Dr. Hal Smith

Dr. Smith is originally from Wauneta, Nebraska. He is a 1989 graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine.  Following graduation, Dr Smith returned to his home-state of Nebraska where he worked in Omaha for 3 years.  He has lived and worked in Lincoln since 1992.

Dr. Smith and his wife Cher have 4 daughters: Jennie, Jamie, Jessie and Jodie.  They currently share their home with their 2 French Bulldogs, Stella and Lucy. When not at work, Dr Smith enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, cycling and following Husker sports.

Dr. Megan Behrens

Dr. Behrens grew up in Wilber, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska, graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture Science. She attended Kansas State University, earning a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 2007. Dr Behrens practiced emergency medicine and critical care for 7 years before joining Highlands Animal Hospital in October of 2014.

Besides caring for her patients, she enjoys family time, photography, and cheering for the Huskers! Dr Behrens and her husband, Grant have two beautiful daughters, Rowan and Elleson. They also share their home with two German Shorthaired Pointers and two cats.
